STOP and THINK this THANKSGIVING
In many homes in America, the tables will be set with the finest crystal and china. In some, it will be less gracious, but no matter how we celebrate this special day that President Lincoln started over 250 years ago, it is worth taking a look back to the real first Thanksgiving. He felt it could be a healing from a nation that had lost so many lives and property in the Civil War. Lets take a look. Turn up your sound.
As we say our prayer before enjoying the turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie and much more, let us remind ourselves and especially the children and young people that there is much more to life and history than the phones in their hands. (Hopefully phones are banned from the table.) It is a time to THANK GOD for our many blessings. It is a time to know that those who came to our shores were not the first here. The fact that any of the first pilgrims and their descendants survived to eventually be the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, we know today, is truly a miracle. YES, WE HAVE COME A LONG WAY FROM THE FIRST THANKSGIVING.
We are also told in the Holy Scriptures to do something with our wealth. Not only are we told to HONOR THE LORD WITH OUR SUBSTANCE, but we are given a promises...then "YOUR BARNS WILL BE FILLED WITH PLENTY, AND YOUR VATS WILL BE BURSTING WITH WINE." Now, if you don't have a barn or you do not lean toward drinking wine, I think you get the point. The Scriptures also tell us that even the poor widow gave the most because it was all that she had.
GOD PROMISED HER AND US A BLESSING. FROM BILL AND NANCY
