MEANING OF GOOD FRIDAY BEFORE EASTER SUNDAY
You may have wondered why GOOD FRIDAY was called "good." There was nothing good about the death of Jesus, who came to be Savior of the World. It was a terrible death. One of torture while carrying the cross and when Christ was dying on the cross. It was nothing good. A terrible way to die, which is probably what most of us can not imagine.
Yet, He allowed them to take him to the cross. He could have called down to earth all the angels of heaven, yet he did not. The Savior who had healed the blind; raised people from the dead and brought love and peace to the hearts of so many.
Why on this day of death is it called " GOOD FRIDAY" ?
The answer to this question is because the term, Good Friday, was called "good" because it comes from an old and obsolete use of the word, "Good" which also meant "HOLY" or "Pious". In passed years and to the present, it was called "good" because it is Jesus' sacrifice over sin.
It marks the day that Jesus purchased salvation for all people. This Friday will lead us into the glorious resurrection on Easter Sunday.
JUST BEFORE GOOD FRIDAY, LET US LOOK AGAIN AT ONE OF THE AMAZING MIRACLES JESUS CHRIST, THE SAVIOR, DID WHEN HE SHOWED COMPASSION TO THOSE ON EARTH.
