19TH AMENDMENT'S IMPORTANCE
IF YOU HAD TO RATE THE IMPORTANCE OF THE AMMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION, HOW WOULD YOU RATE THIS ONE?
The history of the United States of America is filled with struggle. The need for all people to have equal rights in a democracy did not come easy! There were many biases and prejudices. Men felt women's vote should not count because they should be in the home and not mess with men's affairs. In other words, they were less than a citizen. Other people also were discriminated against if they were black, Native Americans and of Asian descent.

WOMEN, WHO PROTESTED TO GET THE VOTE, WERE BEATEN AND IMPRISONED, LIKE THESE WOMEN.
WE MUST REMEMBER THAT THE RIGHTS FOR ALL OF US TO HAVE A VOICE IN OUR ELECTIONS WAS PAVED WITH BLOODSHED AND TEARS. IT IS NOT A PRIVILEGE THAT ANY AMERICAN SHOULD TAKE LIGHTLY.
THE WOMEN OF THAT ERA WERE FINALLY RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR ABILITIES DURING WAR TIME AND THEIR RELENTLESS VOICES TO BE HEARD BY THEN PRESIDENT WILSON. FINALLY, IN 1920 THE 19TH AMENDMENT WAS PASSED. IT MUST ALWAYS BE PRESERVED.
EVEN AFTER THE PASSING OF THE 19TH AMENDMENT, THERE WERE SOME MINORITIES AND WOMEN WHO WERE HARASSED AT THE VOTING POLES. FREEDOM IS NOT EASY. FREEDOM IS WHAT OUR MEN AND WOMEN DIE FOR. WE MUST ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS, WHEN YOU VOTE.
