LOVE

If you were asked to describe LOVE, what would you say?    Most of us would simply stutter around and yet we know that describing it is almost impossible.  There are so many kinds of love:  romantic love; love for a child; love of friends and love of nature or beauty.  It goes on and on, but we also know that the GREATEST of LOVE is the LOVE OF GOD.  

How do I know and feel God's love, like the love I know when someone wraps their arms around me or smiles at me across a room?

Perhaps our best definition comes from pictures that I did not expect to see.  This happened to me one day as I watched a gorgeous nature program, whose photographer's name, I unfortunately didn't see. 

 Nevertheless, I want to share some of these pictures with you today because it shows a love that demonstrates God's love for each of us.

God's love is much like this.  He sees the storms of life that are coming and often shields  us when we are least expecting it.

THIS  BIRD IS AWARE OF THE NEED TO FOLD HER WINGS AROUND HER LITTLE ONES. 

Sometimes God doesn't shield us completely, but lets us have a small glimpse into the storms of life. We often learn from hard times things we would never learn otherwise.  Yet we know He is with us. 

THE BIBLE TELLS US WHAT LOVE SHOULD BE  IN 1ST CORINTHIANS 13

If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have LOVE, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

And if I have prophetic powers and understand all mysteries and all knowledge and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am NOTHING.

If I give away all my possessions and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain NOTHING.

LOVE IS PATIENT

LOVE IS KIND

LOVE IS NOT ENVIOUS OR BOASTFUL OR ARROGANT OR RUDE. 

IT DOES NOT  INSIST ON ITS OWN WAY

IT IS NOT IRRITABLE OR RESENTFUL

IT DOES NOT REJOICE IN WRONGDOING, BUT REJOICES IN THE TRUTH

IT BEARS ALL THINGS

BELIEVES ALL THINGS

HOPES ALL THINGS

LOVE NEVER ENDS

The Scriptures goes on to say that there are things that will cease and compares us to children, who do childish things. However, when we grow up, we put away the childishness.   Have we done that?  Are we, as adults still acting like children?

The end of the chapter tells us what the greatest thing in life is when we see "Face to Face "  Who are we to see?  It is assumed to be our Savior, our Lord of Love, Jesus.

Now FAITH     HOPE   AND LOVE ABIDE, THESE THREE,

BUT THE GREATEST OF THESE IS 

LOVE

When we reach out to God to be His channel of LOVE, He changes us. He fills our life with His love for ourselves and those around us.  May you be an instrument of love today to your husband, wife, children and friends and neighbors.  

Remember that children and young people are the future of our world. Give them all the love and support you can.

LOVE IS OUR GREATEST GIFT FROM GOD

God Raises us up when we hit low times in our lives. He gives courage, strength and His love to endure.
