Would you be surprised if an angel showed up at your house, a work place or at a hospital?
Of course you would. We all would. Maybe we would wonder if it was really an angel. Aren't angels supposed to have wings? Sometimes an angel is sent by God and he or she is not recognizable as an angel.
In our case, things did not seem right and we knew that it was best to get to the emergency room. It was when the hospital attendant quickly rolled out a chair., unknowingly she became our angel. She didn't know how seriously ill this patient could be. Was he having a stoke or something less serious?
When the doctor stood by the bedside, bringing their experience and training, they became another angel to one I love very much. I had to place him in the hands of a human being, with an ability to make mistakes, as we all do. I gave this doctor and the others yet to decide important things to God. Time moved very slowly before we knew the results of many tests. Other dear friends were also praying that the doctors would have Devine wisdom. It must have been the Holy Spirit Who gave me a calmness that I didn't know I had. If we could only see the angels of God, but He wants us to trust that He is working through the human angels that He will bring us in times of trouble and decision making. Days passed.
Christmas was in just a few days. How sad it would be to spend Christmas in a hospital, rather than with a loving family . Yet, sometimes it is the best place for care and there will always be those angels who will work through holidays and special times away from their own loved ones. The same is true of the angels who work to keep us safe and those who rush into buildings that are burning. The men and women in our military, who may not say they are angels, but God knows His purposes in all mankind. As Tiny Tim would say, "GOD BLESS THEM EVERYONE."
Time seemed to drag on; tests were made; charts were looked at; and finally the word came. There was nothing in the test that indicted there had been a full-blown stroke; nor a clot or damage to the brain. It was perhaps a severe migraine, that often has similar symptoms to a stoke or a TIA, "Transient Ischemic Attack".
Other angels came into the room. They were the ones that would help him walk and speak better; observing him before he could be allowed to leave. Decisions had to be made about progress. Would he be able to go home by Christmas? Finally, the answer was "YES!" Follow ups would be in the future.
We thank God for the "Angels" that He places all around us. They may not have wings, but they are committed to health, and improvement of the human body.. Sometimes there is also the family member who sits day and night next to the patient. God sent a close family angel to do just that and I am so grateful.
